Beginner Band Instruments

As the beginner drive gets underway, I would like to answer some questions on what brand of instruments parents should buy/rent. Just about any brand that a reputable music store offers will be just fine.  Those stores would be High School Music, Alamo Music, Sam Ash, and Instrumental Music Service.  You can also purchase instruments and supplies through WWBW.com and shop.weinermusic.com

If you will not be going to a music store some brands to keep an eye out for are: Yamaha, Bach, King, Geimeinhardt, Buffet, Selmer, LeBlanc, Jupiter, Conn-Selmer.

Of course you can always email me or contact me through Remind if you have questions or would like to send a picture of something you found.

UIL Competition .

On Thursday , April 7

the fighting lytle jr high band came home with a sweepstakes in concert perfomance
and straight twos in sight reading . that wasnt bad for the fighting lytle jr high band .
they had been practicing 3 pieces of music for at last three month . theses piceses are called  , japanese pictures , alpane meadows, and sptfire . the three or more long stressful months payed off in the end . Mrs.Robles would always say that band is nothing like sports we get a few months of practice in sports and 10-12 games to win , in band you get a few months of practice and one chnace to succeed and if you fail then you fail no second chances and this was our year to show that we could do it . afterwards we got to celebrate at peter piper pizza , we had so much fun ,

Solo & Ensemble

On may 10th , we are having our solo and esemble here at lytle high school .
We are giving them time to practice their own music during class after warm-ups . On May 16th we are going to have our concert and it is going to be our 9 weeks exam so we hope you and your kids attend because it's a big deal. we have some new songs that we are working on and these songs are called Happy by Pharrel Williams and the other song Lips are Moving by Meghan Trainor. We have been working very hard on these songs everyday and we hope to do great at our concert. And we hope that Mrs Robles is going to be very proud of us!

Last Saturday 4 student of the Lytle Junior High Band traveld to Pleasonton High School to attened a clinic that started at 8:30.  We practiced our pieces for about 3 hours, and then lunch break started at 11:30. We went to Pizza Hut, and had a great time. We returned to Pleasonton High School at 1:00, and practiced to perfection. We got dressed for our concert at 4:00, and finally, the concert started at 5:30. We made many friends from other schools and had a great time. The songs we preformed were Invincible by Robert W. Smith, Dark Adventures by Ralph Ford, Patriotic Bits and Pieces by Michael Story, and Tu Ungane (Let's Join Together!) By Scott Watson.

"It was a blast, I felt like a part of a professional band! I also made friends and learn cool techniques to make my playing better. It was an experience to remember!"  - Juanita Saldana

'You know it was a succesful trip when two of the students (Elissa and Ariel) almost get left at Pizza Hut because we were trying to win stuffed animal"  - Elissa Gallegos

"I just wanted food the whole time but other than that I liked it and so did my stalkers"-Ariel Muraira

Good Afternoon! Yesturday we took 15 students to Pearsall to audition for the Junior High All-Region Band. The students competed against 14 different schools and hundreds of students to earn a place in one of two bands. Our students did very well, but we did have a few heartbreaking moments. In the trumpets section four students missed the band by a few chairs. 24 trumpets were chosen for the bandand Carlos Tomayo was 25th, Jared Garrison was 26th, John Martinez was 28th, and Eddie Morfin was 30th. They competed against 74 trumpets

The four students that made the band were:
Juanita Saldana 8th grade Flute
Concert band
Elissa Gallegos 8th grade Clarinet
Concert band
Ariel Muraira 8th grade Clarinet
Concert band
Mason Ringer 7th grade Alto Saxaphone
Concert band. Mason was beat by 8th graders.

These students will participate in the Jh All-Region Concert and Clinic in Pleasanton on Feb. 20 . Im very proud of all our students , especially the 7th graders who tried out. We are in a very tough region and all of our students did a great job. Thanks Mr. Fender and Mr. reyes for your help.

Yesterday we had a peprally and it was really fun the band didn't play becasue we got a late notice on it. The band cheerleaders did very good and there dance off's. The region band people went to go work on their scales and they are working very hard on that too  we have the region band people go out everyday for sectionals and usually it's the brass and then the woodwind players and we keep it like that for the whole week. We are also working on Japenese Pictures once in awhile .
